What does a Speech-Language Pathologist do?

A Speech-Language Pathologist is a person who specializes in treating a variety of communication disorders including expressive, receptive, and pragmatic deficits. They work in a variety of settings including schools, healthcare settings, and private clinics.

What population do you work with?

I work primarily with children in Pre-K through high school who have a language impairment, speech impairment, or have a neurological condition such as autism or Down syndrome.

What is a Language Impairment?

A language impairment can present in a variety of different ways including trouble expressing oneself, sequencing events, retelling a story, grammatical mistakes, oral/written comprehension, following directions, etc.

What is a Speech Impairment?

A speech impairment is when a person is unable to correctly produce age-appropriate speech sounds. Some common examples include being unable to say /k/ and /g/ sounds (saying “tat” for “cat”) and /r/ sounds (saying “wed” for “red”).

Do you offer Remote Services?

Yes! I have worked in a remote setting with students before and have always found the experience enjoyable for the clinician, students, and parents.

Are Remote Services effective?

Yes! Research has found that teletherapy services have proven effective for a variety of populations and disorders. Some therapy materials are exclusive or even more beneficial when presented using teletherapy.

Do you offer private therapy sessions?

Yes! I offer private therapy sessions on a case-by-case basis. While I primarily work with school districts, I may be able to accommodate private sessions depending on availability and your specific needs. Feel free to reach out to discuss your schedule and how we can work together.
